1. What is the difference between MBA and PGDM?

Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) are normally two years master level educational program for managing business enterprises. As per the statutory requirement only universities are entitled to offer Master degree in a subject. The institutions which are not universities also offer management education at master level. To distinguish these institutions from that of universities, the master program offered in management is called Post Graduate Diploma in Management. To ensure high quality of professional education, these institutions are often controlled by the regulations of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). Examples of institutions offering PGDM include IIMs, XLRI, XIMB, IRMA, etc.

2. Is the PGDM of HDF School of Management approved by AICTE?

HDF School of Management has received Letter of Approval (LOA) for its PGDM from AICTE.

3. How PGDM offered by HDF is different from others?

The PGDM offered by HDF SOM is unique in a number of ways. These include curriculum based on industry needs and sensitive to the needs of the under-privileged, highly qualified and experienced faculty, sound infrastructure, faculty-led governance system of the School, dynamic board of governors, moderate fee and transparent system.

4. How to get study loan?

HDF SOM will facilitate Study loan for the entire amount from the Punjab National Bank, Chandrasekharpur Branch, Bhubaneswar. Students can also avail loan from any other bank of their choice. For the said amount no collateral is necessary and the parent will be only surety. There is no need to mortgage any property to the bank for availing loan. Hence, no student, who is qualified otherwise, will be denied education because of financial weakness.

5. What is the placement opportunity?

The HDF SOM gives highest priority to the placement of the students in well-paying organisations. There will be facilities for campus placement for all the students completing PGDM successfully. A senior faculty of the School will guide the Placement Officer and Placement Committee of students for comprehensively addressing the placement issues. Members of the Advisory Body from Academia and Industry will also facilitate the placement of students.

6. How many seats are there for the PGDM?

There are 60 seats for the PGDM program.

7. When the PGDM program is likely to start?

The PGDM program will start on 22nd June 2009.

8. What is the qualifying requirement for admission to PGDM?

Any graduate with a minimum of 15 years (10+2+3) of education, having minimum 50% aggregate marks (or equivalent CGPA) at graduation and with valid CAT/MAT/XAT/IRMA Test/Orissa JEE can apply. The percentage of aggregate marks is to be calculated as per the practice followed by the concerned University/Institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. In case the University / Institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by the School by dividing obtained CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant with 100.

9. How to get admission to PGDM at the HDF School of Management?

1. Check the qualifying requirement for admission to PGDM.
2. Apply in prescribed form (available in HDF website) to HDF SOM with a
    DD of Rs 600.
3. All the qualified candidates will be called for group discussion and
    interview.
4. Based on the performance in written test, group discussion, interview
    and academic achievement the students will be ranked.
 

10. Where is the HDF SOM located?

The HDF SOM is located between Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, at Trisulia on the bank of the picturesque Kuakhai, distributary of Mahanadi. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack railway stations are respectively 20 km and 6 km from the School.
